Enterprises are generally perceived as solely driven by profit. Confident of our roots in African culture and values, we, at Afriland First Bank Liberia challenge this traditional perception through our leading role in the fight against poverty. According to Dr. Paul K. Fokam, Board chairman of our group, poverty is “A state of material, intellectual, and moral destitution that prevents one from fully taking responsibility for oneself and sidelines one from the social, economic, cultural and political life of one society.”
This definition and our understanding of the role of private entrepreneurship determine our social responsibility missions. We are committed to men and women with whom we interact daily, empowering communities to achieve their full potential. We do all of this by promoting the creation of rural development micro-banks and micro-investments, and providing corporate sponsorship for socio-educational, cultural and sports activities.
